1993 born in Jesenice (SLO) is an emerging Slovenian visual artist.
Miha Majes is working across painting, sculpture, installation, and digital art. His visual language deconstructs pop culture within late-stage capitalism. Through the use of pop iconography, Majes examines personal mythologies, conspiratorial thinking, and the erosion of critical reflection in consumer culture. He holds a BA (2019) and MA (2023) in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, and is currently a PhD candidate in the Interdisciplinary Fine Arts program. He has participated in exhibitions, art fairs, and residencies nationally and internationally.
Miha Majes’ interdisciplinary practice navigates the visual and ideological landscapes of late capitalism through the appropriation of imagery from popular culture, digital media, and everyday life. Reconfiguring Pop Art for a millennial context, his work merges irony, nostalgia, and critique with awareness of image saturation, digital spectacle, and mediated desire. Rooted in personal mythology and collective experience, Majes reflects on how myths, moral systems, and power operate in consumer culture. Through deconstructive strategies, he exposes how visual information—whether in advertising, entertainment, or art—shapes behaviour, emotion, and belief, reinforcing hierarchies of visibility and desire. By juxtaposing icons of fascination with symbols of conformity, he questions viewers’ complicity within an increasingly commodified reality, transforming the spectacle of consumption into a poetic field of introspection, irony, and resistance.
