Mattia Balsamini


1987 born in Pordenone (IT), lives and works in the World.

He began his studies at the Brooks Institute of California where he graduated with Honorable Mention in 2011. In 2010 he worked at David LaChapelle’s studio as a studio assistant and archivist. Mattia focuses his attention on the concept of work and scientific research as an identity factor for human kind. His images reveal interest in the functionality of technology and the graphic elements of the ordinary. Over the years he has carried out personal and editorial projects in and for institutions such as MIT, NASA, Institute of Forensic Medicine University of Zurich and the Laboratory of Anthropology and Forensic Odontology of the University of Milan. His images have been exhibited at Triennale Di Milano, MAXXI, Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation and the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco. In 2021 he published In Search of Appropriate Images, his first monograph with Skinnerboox.
