1973 born in Sacile (PN), Italy, lives and works everywhere
Matteo Attuia is an Italian visual artist whose practice spans installation, writing, neon, photography, video, sculpture and participatory practices. At the heart of his work lies language, viewed not merely as a tool for communication, but as an unstable space in which meanings, identities and relationships can be continually called into question.
Through verbal short-circuits, appropriations and shifts in meaning, Attruia intervenes on words, images and everyday objects. His works, often immediate in form, gradually reveal a more ambiguous fabric: irony and unease, seduction and disenchantment, personal and collective dimensions coexist without resolving into a single interpretation. The public is thus invited to participate actively in the construction of meaning and to question what appears familiar or obvious. With a conceptual approach that is both rigorous and ironic, Matteo Attruia continues to explore the contradictions of the present and the way in which words help to shape our experience of reality. His practice offers no definitive answers: rather, it opens up new avenues, raises doubts and transforms the viewer from an observer into an active participant in the work.
